Power of Attorney

A Power of Attorney isn't just for when you are incapacitated and can't act on your own behalf. A Power of Attorney is also for when you cannot be present to carry out a transaction, such as a real estate closing, banking or any other decisions that you assign for your attorney-in-fact to carry out when you simply can't be in two places at once. You can always change the Power of Attorney, customize it, limit it for a specific time or a specific transaction. Can you tell this is one of my personal favorite documents?

Health Care Proxy

A health care proxy is a document that names someone you trust as your agent, to express your wishes and make health care decisions for you if you are unable to speak for yourself. ... You do not have to be terminally ill to designate a health care proxy or for the proxy to make decisions on your behalf. Even married folks should have this document in the event both are incapacitated together due to an accident.

Living Will
​
A living will, also called a directive to physicians or advance directive, is a document that lets people state their wishes for end-of-life medical care, in case they become unable to communicate their decisions. It has no power after death.
